Cluttered Campus

Submitted by TyLeR on Tue, 2006-10-31 12:41.

In our school we have a big problem with trash. It is everywhere it’s in the ditch, the halls, the classrooms, but not in trashcans. I have talked to some students and teachers about the problem and they all said that is just disrespect to our school. Jon L. even said, “We should not even have a trash problem.” Bud Hunt, a teacher at OCHS, said, “If you throw something on the ground, pick it up.” Dani F. says “It symbolizes the lack of respect towards the school and community. Sami F. says “It’s a huge problem at our school. Lazy people are making our school look bad."

Bus Fees for Students?

Submitted by codym on Thu, 2006-10-26 11:15.

The St.Vrain Valley School District is considering to charge students to pay for bus rides. 7,500 students ride the bus to and from school each day in the St.Vrain Valley School District which wants to charge each student who rides the bus $29 each month towards bus transportation.

Last year, the School District paid over $100,000 in fuel alone for bus transportation. A new state law allows School Districts to charge fees for transportation. The School District is hoping to have the fee in place by fall of 2007. For more info click here.

My Hunt

Submitted by codym on Wed, 2006-10-11 11:38.

My alarm clock started ringing at three-thirty in the morning.  I figured that I had better get up to go pick up the guys, and head to our hunting spot.  I got up and dressed from head to toe in pure camouflage.  I was up all night loading the truck with my decoys, my gun and all of my other hunting supplies.  I walk out to the truck and the cold morning air touches my face and hands.  The smell of winter fills the air, and my neighborhood is as quiet as Christmas Eve.

The season began early Saturday at Simpson Ponds east of Loveland.  Waterfowl hunters showed up at around 5 in the morning to get a good spot to set up their decoys for the morning hunt on September 30.

“I haven’t been hunting here for a couple of years, so I figured I would give it a shot today,” said Will Johnson who was one of the hunters at the ponds.
