Never give up on yourself

Submitted by live_to_be_ill on Fri, 2006-05-19 11:43.

The only advice I have for students that feel like they just want to give up with school is never give up it’s not worth it. You need to trust me on this because lately all I’ve wanted to do is give up but every one keeps telling me no and that I can do it if I put my mind to it. That’s the truth anyone can do it, you just have to believe in yourself. I’ve realized that if you don’t believe in yourself your not going to make it in anything that you want to do. School is one of the most important things you’re going to have in life so don’t let it pass you by.
For me trying to stay in school is hard because I don’t believe in myself and I don’t have the motivation that I need to finish school. I should be graduating this year but I’m not because I’ve been dropped from one to many classes because of ditching and not turning in my work because I thought I had better things to do with my time, but hanging out with friends to do stupid things isn’t worth losing my education over.
I’ve fallen away from school but now is the time to pick myself back up and finish school so I can make something more of my life and for those of you who need to get back on track now’s as good of time as any. We as students need to believe in ourselves before we start believing in what other people tell us about us. The strength we need to succeed has to come from within us. You would be amazed by what we can accomplish if we just believe in ourselves.

1. Never move too fast on a first date.

You should never move too fast on a first date because the first is where you get to know the person. You should find out about the person before getting attached, because once you get attached it’s hard to let go.

Failing at Life: MMORPGs Gone Wrong

Submitted by Mr. Evil Eyes on Fri, 2006-05-19 11:41.

Back in the days when the Earth was young and women couldn’t vote, people had no way of escaping the pain of everyday boredom and stress. Then they discovered drugs. But those turned out to be lethal and people deemed that a bad side-effect, illegalizing all influential drugs. Now, in the technologically advanced future, we have computers, which have heralded in a new era of new methods of escaping boredom and stress. This is the MMORPG era.  But even this new life within a life has its corrupt underside.

The end is near

The school year is coming to an end here at Olde Columbine High School. There are 2 weeks of school work left to do and a week of just school activities. These 3 weeks are going to go by extremely fast so try to stay hard working and finish the school year.

Finally, on May 31st we are having an all school picnic. This will happen after advisory and governance. The last day of school has not been set yet. I hope to find out that information in a couple of days.

Prom pictures are in.

Submitted by melissa on Mon, 2006-05-15 10:48.

The prom pictures are in. You can find them in the main hallway at OCHS. They are held in a glass case hanging on the wall.

They look good so stop by and check them out.

Farley was the photographer, so if you have any questions regarding the pictures talk to feel free to talk to him. The extra pictures are going to be sent to our school newsletter and then they will be given to the students free of charge. So just a couple more days and the pictures will be here waiting for you. Bethany E., a current student here at OCHS will be handing the pictures out when they are finished.

Color and the Effect on Your Mood

Submitted by seth on Mon, 2006-05-15 10:23.

Color affects us in everyday life. Sometimes the mood we take on is caused by the colors around us. What is your favorite color? Well if you go to this site you can find what your color does to your mood.     Generally the color that you pick will end up being pretty close to the characteristics that you have. For example I am an achiever, impulsive, and aggressive. When I went to this site I looked at my favorite color “red” and as I read it basically talked about who I am. It was very interesting. People wear various colors to make them feel thinner or in some cases to make them feel thicker.

The Three

Submitted by Mr. Evil Eyes on Mon, 2006-05-15 10:17.

School ends and free time approaches. But no one person has ever been able to fully utilize this massive amount of time that they are given. I believe I have a solution to that open date on your calendar. A certain three books that everyone should at least look at, if not read.

The first book that I strongly recommend you read is Shogun by James Clavell. This book has all the intricacies of feudal Japan’s societies with a great story line based on actual events. It’s like history except better! No really, this is a great book though with a few disturbing details on punishment. I'd give you details -- but this is a family publication.  Japan just isn’t the way it used to be. It’s history told in third-person, showing the people of the nation as you would see them if you were there.
