Gas Prices Soar

Submitted by jesse on Mon, 2007-03-12 11:14.

There is an increasing rate in gas prices across the country and even across the world. It has been making it hard for people to get where they are trying to go, raising feuds and frustration in America.

Gas prices aren’t necessarily high all over the country, it varies from state to state and what the state government says they want the gas prices to be. Typically they are high over the whole country. According to How Stuff Works (link below), Hurricane Katrina was one of the main reasons why gas prices went up in 2005. "Price increases occur when world crude-oil market tightens and lowers inventories," according to How Stuff Works.  This is called supply and demand.

Bouldering?

Submitted by Tymothy on Tue, 2006-11-14 12:28.

For all you non-bouldering folk out there, bouldering is the art of climbing boulders. The sport is done with no equipment or ropes but also is a safe distance from the ground. Because you are close to the ground, no serious injuries follow. One of the benefits of not having gear to mess with is that you can go virtually anywhere you want. This is because that in sport climbing you must stay beneath your anchor.

Bouldering is also a more high impact sport that is more focused on individual moves instead of the endurances that you must have for trad, or traditional, climbing.

Smoking Ban

Submitted by Sandy on Fri, 2006-09-15 10:40.
Colorado’s recently legislated smoking ban is causing trouble for some state smokers and businesses. There have been many complaints of business going down at a Longmont bar called A Bit of Billiards. One of the workers by the name of Dennis Smith said, “Our bar has lost so much attention because of this smoking ban. We aren’t having enough money coming in, and we might have to close down.”

The ban, passed in July, prohibits smoking inside public areas, including bars, restaurants, and other public places.  Casinos, cigar bars, and some private clubs were exempted.  Most Coloradans, about 80 percent, do not smoke, according to the Colorado Department of Health.
